Mary A. Bendig Norland, age 81, of Erie, passed away Monday, May 26, 2025 at UPMC Hamot Hospital. She was born in Wesleyville, PA on May 12, 1944, a daughter of the late Clarence and Katherine Behringer Bendig.
Mary graduated from Tech Memorial High School and was employed in various secretarial positions for several companies including Atkinson Refractory & Superior Bronze. She also work as a directory assistance operator for Verizon from where she retired. She very much enjoyed baking her famous sugar cookies for her grandchildren to devour.
In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband Thomas B. Norland in 2009 and her sister, Nancy Jane Stano.
She is survived by her daughters: Kathleen Ann Greene (Jeffrey) of Erie, and Kristine Marie Norland (Bryan Pinsky) of Santa Monica, CA. and her son Thomas B. Norland (Penny). Mary is further survived by her siblings Carol Jones and John B. Bendig (Carol) of Waterford; grandchildren, Matthew Greene (Erica) and Katelyn Brennan (Jon) and great grandchildren, Eleanor Greene and Nelson Brennan.
