Mary Marlene Anderson

Mary Marlene Anderson, born April 8, 1939, passed away peacefully in her sleep at age 87 on Sunday, September 27, 2026. She was welcomed into Heaven by her beloved husband of 53 years, Richard (Dick) Joseph Anderson; her parents, Harry and Martha Hahn; and her grandchild, Elliot Dart.

Marlene’s life was built upon her faith in Christ and a deep devotion to the Holy Mother Mary. After attending St. Ann's primary school, she graduated from St. Benedict’s Academy as salutatorian in 1957. Upon her marriage to Richard in 1959, she dedicated her life to her family, striving to live each day with "Kindness and Love" to all people. A parishioner of St. Jude the Apostle Church, she was also active in her community, notably serving in the Florence Crittenton Society Auxiliary to support young mothers with practical childcare guidance. As a mother of 12 and a loving "Amma" to 25 grandchildren, Marlene truly understood the beauty of family. She considered motherhood to be her greatest role, and that children are “God’s Greatest Gift." As a longtime Fairview resident her children spent their summers at the Colony Pool, where Marlene served as an active board member. She had a zest for life and a passion for travel—especially to the Cayman Islands with a deep connection to Caribbean reggae music. Marlene equally had a magical wit, and a great love of words. She shared her talents in her own poetry and creative writing pieces throughout her life. She had a unique ability to see the best in others, and welcomed everyone with a warm smile. Her presence was Kindness, her heart was open, and her Love shall always be remembered by all the lives she touched.

Marlene is survived by her three siblings: Karen Berry, Mary Joan Koster (Edward), and Harry Bingham Hahn; her 12 children: Lisa Salvia (Mark), Lori Roskin (David), Lesli Lindenberger (Gary), Dr. Richard Anderson Jr. (Melissa), Lynette Anderson (Scott), Ryan Anderson (Tammy), Russell Anderson, Lizabeth Tessner (Kevin), Robert Anderson (Jessica), Randall Anderson (Bill), Lindsey Holland (Dave), and Leah Greene (Jeff); as well as 24 cherished grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, Inc. West Ridge 3801 West 26th Street for viewing on Monday, October 5, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at St. Jude the Apostle Church 2801 West 6th Street, Erie, PA 16505. A private family burial will take place at a later date at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
