Mary Lee Lynch, 78, of Erie, passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, May 1, 2026, at UPMC Hamot.
Mary Lee was born in Oil City, PA, on April 30, 1948. She is survived by her three sons, whom she was exceptionally proud of in all stages of life, Ryan D. (Lisa), Patrick D. (Mary), and Daniel J. (Karen).
She loved and adored her eight grandchildren Colin R., Flynn D., Tilly L., Autumn E., Nora L., Dylan M., Evan A., and Collette C. Mary Lee will be missed by her four loving siblings Linda Poust (Doug), Jack (Mary Jo), Joseph (Candace), and Anne McGraw, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 48 years, Dan, her parents Jack and Rita McGraw, and her grandson Gregor Lynch.
Mary Lee was a graduate of Venango Christian High School in Oil City and earned her bachelors degree in Education from Mercyhurst College. She dedicated her career to public school education, spending over 30 years in the Erie City School District first as an elementary school teacher and then transitioning to leadership and administration roles. Later in life, she shared her experiences by instructing at the collegiate level. As a lifelong learner, she earned dual masters degrees in English and Education from Edinboro University and a Doctor of Education (EdD) degree from Duquesne University.
Mary Lee and Dan were avid travelers together, sharing their love of adventure for international and domestic locations. Bringing them the most joy was visiting their grandchildren in California, New Jersey, and Tennessee. Upon moving to the Springhill community, following Dan’s passing, Mary Lee built many friendships and renewed her love of painting.
The family would like to extend warm gratitude to the caring and thoughtful staff at Springhill-Oakview and to the remarkable CVICU team at UPMC Hamot.
