Mary Evans

Mary Catherine Evans, age 73, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 30, 2022.

She was born on November 30, 1948, in Erie, to the late Joseph Earl and Lily Mae Martin Evans, Jr.

Mary attended the City of Erie public schools, and enjoyed gardening, skating, baseball and gatherings with special people. She was known for nicknaming everyone she Loved and being the life of the party.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Marcia' Alaine Evans; two sisters, Martha Josephine Evans and Lily Mae Evans; and two grandsons, Sichuan Darae Evans and Samontinae Quinn.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Willis Duane Evans (Rotaunda), Trinita Evans (Robert), Portia Evans (James), Reneesha Evans (Leon), Mary Inez Barnett Quinn, and MeMe Crosby (Ronnie). She is further survived by one brother, Joseph Earl Evans III; two God sons, Michael John Bassham (Heather) and Jamal Williams; 29 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mary had a special place in her heart for both her sisters’ children, Lisa, Bonny, Brion, Tammy, Dena, Dawn, Felicia, Fatema, and Sheldon.

Friends and family may call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc., 602 W. 10th Street, on Sunday, November 6, 2022 from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M until 8:00 P.M. A service will follow on Monday at 12:00PM at Greater Calvary Full Gospel Baptist Church, 2624 German Street. Burial will take place in Lakeside Cemetery.
