Mary Ellen Carrick

Mary Ellen Carrick, age 84, formerly of East Grandview Boulevard, in Erie, passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at UPMC Hamot Hospital.

She was born on July 2, 1939, in Erie, to Rufus and Euellen (Green) Falk.

Mary Ellen graduated from Strong Vincent High School. For more than fifty years, she worked in various departments for Loblaws and Quality Markets, acting as the Union Steward for the UFCW Local One and Vice President on their Executive Board for many years. Mary Ellen loved taking bus trips and traveling to California, Nashville, Atlantic City and Las Vegas. She was an amazing cook and loved her trips to the casino. Mary Ellen enjoyed scratch-off tickets and gaming on her iPad. She was always there to help others.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Shirley and her husband, Jerome and her brother, James and his wife, Mary Louise; brother-in-law, Arthur “Pete” Carrick and aunt, Edna Huntington.

She leaves to cherish her in memory, her loving son, John Carrick; aunt, Helen Murphy; nieces, Cindy and Kathleen; nephews, James (wife Anita), Jerome (wife Kathy), Ryan, Todd and Mark; sister-in-law, Theresa. Further surviving are several great nieces, great nephews, and cousins as well as great great nieces and nephews and her beloved feathered grandbaby, Reddie.

Friends are invited to call at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc. Downtown, 602 W. 10^th St., on Monday, July 24th from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
