Mary Louise Breyley

Mary Louise Breyley, age 91 of Erie, passed away at AHN St. Vincent Hospital on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.

She was born in Erie on April 24, 1935 to the late Kenneth C. and Mary Reisinger Breyley. She graduated from East High School in 1953 and started her banking career at the former Bank of Erie. Eventually, through various bank mergers, she retired from Mellon Bank after 43 years of service. She obtained the title of Asst. Vice President and was the manager of several bank branches. During her career, she attended classes through the American Institute of Banking and obtained various certificates including her graduate certificate.

She was a past president of the American Institute of Banking, Erie Chapter; Past President of the Zonta Club of Erie; a member of the Erie Society for Genealogical Research and co-editor of their newsletter for ten years and a former member of Gridley Chapter 323 OES. She thoroughly enjoyed her volunteer positions at AHN Saint Vincent Hospital. She also volunteered at the Thomas B. Hagen Historical Society of Erie. Mary Lou was a member of Luther Memorial Church and their Magic Fingers Knitting Group and the Asbury Community Seniors. She enjoyed getting together with friends and being as active as possible. Mary Lou’s family and friends were very important to her and she cherished time spent with them.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Jane Caroline Olson and her husband Larry and Eleanor B. Jass and her husband Andrew and nephew, Kenneth P. Jass.

Mary is survived by her nephew, Andrew P. Jass (Lynn); niece, Mary Carol Korkes; great nieces, Kaitlyn M. (George) Melo, Learan Jass, Sarah Korkes and Kayla Korkes; along with 3 great nieces, Annabelle, Eleanor and Kenna Melo.

Friends may call at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc. Wintergreen, 2532 Norcross Rd., Erie, PA on Thursday, September 17, 2026 from 1:00 PM until the time of service at 2:00 PM with Pastor Brian Moran officiating. Burial will be in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
