Mary Ann Glance

Mary Ann Behan Glance of Lakewood, NY and Venango Township (Erie County), PA passed on January 1, 2026 surrounded by family. She was born April 14, 1941 in Erie, PA to the late Austin and Adelaide Greiner Behan.

She graduated from St. Ann's, Villa Maria Academy, Edinboro College with a BS in Secondary and Elementary Education, and SUNY Buffalo with a Masters in Library Science. She began her teaching career in the Erie area and retired from the Jamestown Public Schools, Jamestown, NY.

She lived by the Golden Rule and was guided by kindness, generosity, and a gentle spirit. Deeply committed to lifelong learning, she shared her wisdom and enriched the lives of others through years of volunteer service and active involvement in her community. She enjoyed reading, traveling, and the simple things in life.

She is survived by her husband Robert Glance and their four children Rob (Melissa), Justin, Megan, Mary (Joe), and four grandchildren Franklin, Corbin, Austin and Sophia. She is also survived by her three sisters Adelaide, Jane, and Roberta, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her brother Austin.

A celebration of her life will be held in the summer. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, Mary Ann asked that you plant a tree in her memory as a reminder that we are all connected to the Earth.
