Marvin K. Smith

Marvin K. Smith, age 67, of Erie passed away Sunday May 3, 2026. He was born February 15, 1959 in Erie the son of the late Rev. Joe Smith and Dora B. Smith. He was a lifelong resident of Erie and graduated from Tech Memorial High School.

Marvin became a part of the Barber National Institute in 1998 and joined their residential program in 2016. Over the years he built meaningful relationships and left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Marvin had an infectious laugh, and enjoyed simple moments such as swinging outside when the weather was nice. He had the ability to make friends wherever he went and he will be deeply missed by his housemates, staff, his family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan and deeply loved the Lord.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Minister Marcia Ann Smith; a brother, Ronald W. Smith; and his special friend, Christine.

Marvin is survived by three brothers; John A. Smith of Erie, Gary A. Smith (Zina) of Springdale, MD; and Adrian D. Smith (Brookye) of Leesburg, VA. Along with two sisters; Robin S. Lawrence and Gale Y. Jordan, both of Erie. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends are invited to call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services Inc., Downtown, 602 W. 10th St. on Monday May 11, 2026 from 11:00 am until time of Funeral Services at 1:00 pm with Pastor Darrell Cook officiating. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
