Martha Louise Rossetti

Martha "Marty Lou" Louise Rossetti, 68, of Erie, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2026, in Fairview, Pennsylvania, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on August 18, 1957, in Erie, she was the beloved daughter of the late Allison Andrew Dodson Sr. and Martha Jane (Alwens) Dodson.

Marty attended Saint Benedict Academy and graduated from Fairview High School with the Class of 1975. She proudly served her country in the United States Army before beginning a career in the electronics industry. While living in Ohio, she worked for Allen-Bradley Company, where she met her beloved husband, Kenneth "Kenny" Rossetti. Following Kenny's passing, Marty graduated from the Ohio College of Massotherapy and devoted her career to helping others through massage therapy, offering comfort and healing to those living with chronic pain.

Those who knew Marty will remember her as a true spitfire—feisty, fearless, fiercely independent, and completely authentic. Friends affectionately described her as a "no fuss, no nonsense" person who always spoke honestly, but with genuine love and compassion. Even through years of battling serious health challenges, Marty met each obstacle with extraordinary determination and never stopped fighting for more time with the people she loved. Marty found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved crocheting beautiful blankets and handmade gifts and treasured the scent of eucalyptus, which brought her peace. Some of her happiest memories were holidays gathered around the family table at the farm, where generations shared meals, laughter, and traditions. She also cherished summers at Linwood Park, creating lifelong memories with her family.

Marty will be remembered most for opening both her home and her heart to others. She wasn't just a mother to Julie and Paul—she became "Mom" to countless children throughout the years. Whether picking up sick kids from school, feeding hungry teenagers, or driving her famous van, affectionately known as "The Tank," she always made sure everyone felt welcomed, cared for, and loved. Her favorite role was being a proud "Band Mom," cheering not only for her own children but for every young person fortunate enough to be under her wing.

Marty's legacy is one of resilience, generosity, strength, and unconditional love. Through her example, she taught others to be strong in adversity, compassionate toward others, and fiercely loyal to the people they love. Her courage, kindness, and unwavering devotion will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.

In addition to her parents, Marty was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Kenneth Lee Rossetti; her brothers, Andrew Eugene Dodson and Allison "Sonny" Andrew Dodson; her sister, Mary.

She is lovingly survived by her daughter, Julie Marie Skelly and her husband, Tim, of Fairview, Pennsylvania; her son, Paul Anthony Rossetti and his wife, Jennifer, of Kent, Ohio; and her three cherished grandchildren, Kenley Rose Skelly, Mara Elizabeth Skelly, and Alice Lenora Skelly, who were the light of her life. She is also survived by her siblings: Ronald Lee Dodson and his wife, Linda, of Erie; Gerald Alan Dodson of Fairview; Lenore Louise Dalton of Albion; Judith Ann Stephenson and her husband, George, of Summerville, South Carolina; Laurie Ann Havern and her husband, Randy, of Fairview; and Jane Marie Dodson of Venango, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

Friends may call at Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East, Girard, on Friday August 14, 2026, from 3:00pm until the time of service at 6:00pm with full Military Honors.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, caregivers, staff, and volunteers of Pleasant Ridge Manor and AseraCare Hospice for the exceptional care, compassion, and dignity they provided to Marty throughout the years. Their kindness brought comfort not only to Marty but to her entire family, for which they will be forever grateful.
