Martha "Betty" Billings

Martha E (Betty) Uber Billings, age 103, of Girard, passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Manchester Commons.

She was born in Grove City, PA on July 27, 1922, a daughter of the late Herman and Nettie Uber.

Betty graduated from Brookville High School in 1940. Betty then graduated from The Practical Bible Training School in Binghamton, New York. This is where Betty met the love of her life and future husband, the Rev. Harold J Billings. They were married May 30, 1945, and were married for over 70 years. They served as Pastor and wife in 4 churches in New York state. They then moved to Girard and served until their retirement and were member of Bethel Baptist Church.

Betty was employed at Horne’s Department Store in Erie for a number of years. Betty’s love of the Lord and the power of prayer were the foundation of her life, and she extended prayer to all she loved. Betty will be greatly missed by her family and her many friends and neighbors.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Reverend Harold Billings in 2016; and brother, Ralph Uber and two sisters, Margaret Blackstone and Mary Bailey.

Betty is survived by her children Timothy (Janet) Billings of Lake City; daughter, Debra Gilmore of Fairview; grandchildren, Deadra (Steve) Clement, Jessica (Adam) Koop and Jason (Taylor) Billings and six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St. East, Girard on Monday November 3, 2025, from 10:00am until the time of service at 1:00pm with the Rev Clyde Davis officiation. Interment will be in the Girard Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 1781 W. 38th Street, Erie, PA.
