Marlene Adele Williams

Marlene Adele Harris Williams passed away eight days after her 78th birthday on September 24, 2025, at Saint Mary’s at Asbury Ridge.

She was born on September 16, 1947, in Erie, to the late Glenn Daniel and Hattie B. (Allen) Harris.

Marlene was a graduate of Academy High School, Class of 1966. She would further her education through the Opportunities Industrial Center Business Program, J.H. Thompson Academies and Industrial Business Machines.

A lifelong resident of Erie, she was employed as an Optician for 23 years. She worked for Visual Options, Precision Vision and Rite Sight Optical. In her early working career, she worked for Trask Department Store, General Electric, Halle Bros. and Kaufmann’s Department Store.

Marlene was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, Saint Mary’s Catholic Church and, most recently, Second Baptist Church. She was very active in the church where she was at one time or another, secretary, treasurer, vice president and president of the Ladies of the Immaculate Conception Organization. Marlene also sang in the church choir and was on the parish board. Her love of singing was her joy. She sang in the A Capella Choir at Academy High School and with the Heritage Ensemble and for weddings when asked.

She was a cheerleader for Wilson Jr. High School and Academy High School. Marlene played basketball for the Booker T. Washington Center and in her senior year, played for Academy High School. Marlene was a board member for the Organization CALL. Her biggest joy was her family.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Tiffany Williams; her brothers, Glenn A. Harris, Eugene R. Harris, Karl E. Harris and Kenneth P. Harris Sr. and her sisters, Joan V. Crawford-Grayson and Janice A. Epps.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Michele Williams Barnett, Brian S. Williams (Jessica), Paula Williams Simmons (Ronald) and Keith A. Williams (Shelly); sister, Wilma C. Harris; 18 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc. Downtown, 602 West 10th Street, on Monday, September 29, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at Second Baptist Church, 757 East 26th Street, on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Burial in Erie Cemetery.
