Marie Kowalczyk age 71, of Erie, passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at UPMC Hamot.

She was born in Erie on November 13, 1941, a daughter of the late John "Bud" and Jean DiBacco Hill.

She graduated from Villa Maria High School in 1959.

She was a LPN Nurse at St Vincent and Doctors Osteopathic Hospitals and later was program director for numerous programs for GECAC and Erie County.

Marie enjoyed antiquing, attending flea markets, traveling, going to the casino and most importantly spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was the first girls' basketball coach at St. Luke's School.

She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Steve E. Kowalczyk; seven children: Susan Kowalczyk, Linda Kowalczyk, Natalie Trocki Elkovitch, Kathleen Kowalczyk Bartoe, Jerry Trocki and his wife Elaine, Stephanie Kowalczyk Fischer and Laurie Trocki all of Erie; four grandchildren: Kara Bartoe, Nicholas, Nathaniel and Nia Elkovitch; four great grandchildren, PJ Elkovitch, Olivia Spencer, Brayden Wilson and Ayva Elkovitch; three sisters, Patty Szychowski and her husband Rich of Erie, Kathy Bakkila and her husband Hal and Judy Finegan and her husband Tom both of Pittsburgh. She is further survived by many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Arrangements entrusted to the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W 26th Street Erie, PA 16506. Private services will be held.
