Margaret V. (Petty) Thomas, affectionately known as ”Pumpkin”, 81, took her rest on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.
She was born in Fayette, Alabama on November 28, 1944, to Joseph and Sue Petty. Margaret moved to Erie, Pennsylvania when she was 18 and remained there as she built her legacy.
Margaret worked at Foam Fabricators in Fairview, Pennsylvania for over 30 years until health complications forced her retirement in 2006. Those who knew Margaret knew a little health impairment would not hold her down. She began participating in GECAC Aging Services where she attended the Senior Center and volunteered in the Foster Grandparent Program. She also loved her church family and was a cherished member of Victory Christian Center.
Besides her parents, Margaret is proceeded in death by her daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette and Ralph Ferguson; brother, William Petty, sisters, Sueretha Petty and Valerie Driver; great grandson, Montae Jones-Gordon and special great nephew, Deverick Petty.
She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Margaret Bell; 3 brothers, Jerry Petty, Cornell Petty (Gloria), and Willie Petty; 3 sisters, Sallie Petty, Jackie Petty, and Shelly Gavin (James); 10 grandchildren, Margaret, JoAnne, Jerry, Khadija and Khareem Ferguson and Tinisha, Latasha, Lakeesha, Joseph, and Robert Jones; 21 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson and a host of nieces, nephews cousins, greats, and greater.
Friends may call at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc. Downtown, 602 West 10th Street, on Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at 12:00 P.M. Burial in Erie Cemetery.
