It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Ann Gisczinski, age 78, who was a beloved wife, cherished mother, loving daughter, sister and aunt, remembered for her kindness, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family.
She was born in Erie on March 9, 1948, a daughter to the late William and Edith (Foster) Exley. Linda grew up in Fairview, PA, and attended Fairview High School, graduating in 1966.
Linda delighted in the simple joys of life — spending time with her family, taking leisurely road trips through the countryside, and sitting on her back deck with a good cup of coffee, enjoying the fresh air and the sound of the songbirds. She had a natural talent for gardening, cooking, baking, canning, crafting, knitting, and sewing, and she loved any chance to be outdoors. Her home was always beautifully decorated for the holidays, each season reflecting her creativity and warmth. She welcomed conversation at any hour, always ready to brew a fresh pot of coffee and settle in for some good conversation. As a loving wife and mother, she was deeply involved in her children’s lives, serving as a room mother, cheering at baseball and softball games, supporting marching band competitions, and volunteering for Bible study and as Girl Scout leader when her children were young.
To picture Linda is to remember her gentle spirit and the comfort she brought simply by being present. She was often heard humming a happy tune — a gentle melody that seemed to follow the warmth she brought wherever she went. Linda had a gift for making others feel welcome, whether through a warm smile, a thoughtful gesture, or a plate of something homemade fresh from her kitchen. Friends and family knew her as someone who listened deeply, laughed easily, and found joy in sharing life’s everyday moments. Her creativity, her steady patience, and her love for tradition wove together a life rich with meaning — one that left an imprint on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Linda’s presence was a steady source of comfort, joy, and love, and her absence leaves a space that can never be filled. Yet the memories she created — the laughter around her table, the traditions she nurtured, the kindness she offered so freely — will continue to live on in the hearts of those she loved. Her legacy is one of warmth, devotion, and quiet strength, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Bean and Betty Rand and brothers-in-law, Jerry Michael and Gene Smith.
She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Robert Stephen Gisczinski Sr., and her children: Cynthia Ann Gisczinski, Laura Ann Gisczinski, Robert Stephen Gisczinski Jr. and Melissa Ann (Eric Michael) Forster. She is further survived by her sisters, Susan Michael, Patricia Smith, Edith Exley and Carla (Brian) Wilson; brother-in-law, Mark Rand; many nieces and nephews and extended family.
Friends and family are invited to call at Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East, Girard, on Sunday July 5, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00 and 5:00 to 7:00, and attend a service there on Monday at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Girard Cemetery.
Linda will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved her. May she rest in peace.
