Leroy John Balzer, 68, passed away on April 2, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Leroy was born on October 29, 1957, in Massillon, Ohio, to the late Leroy and Mary Schwartz Balzer. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother who loved his family wholeheartedly and without measure. His greatest joy in life was the time he spent with those he loved most.
Leroy spent his life working alongside his father in the family business, Leroy Balzer Salvage Contractor and Son. After his father’s passing, he proudly carried on the legacy until his retirement. He was an extremely hard worker who took great pride in providing for his family.
He shared 47 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Karen Muller Balzer—a testament to their deep love and enduring commitment. Together, they built a life centered on family, laughter, and unwavering support.
Leroy was a proud and loving father to his daughter, Melissa Balzer Lundin (Patrick), and his son, Lee Balzer (Lisa).
He is survived by his two grandchildren, Abby Perry and Leo Balzer; his three sisters, Cynthia Loupe, Roberta Fuller (Frank), and Rhonda Wolf (Bob), and brother, Blayde Balzer (Lorrie); his in-laws, Claire Muller, Erich Muller, and Suzanne Courtney (Bob); along with numerous nieces and nephews and cherished lifelong friends Sue, Jessica, and Jamie Zeiber. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Catherine Bonanti.
Leroy was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his team. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, finding peace and happiness in the outdoors.
Leroy will be remembered for his loving heart, his dedication to his family, his sense of humor, and the quiet strength and warmth he shared with everyone who knew him. His legacy lives on in the lives of those he touched and the family he so deeply loved.
At the request of the family, a private service will be held.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
