Lamar Smith was a beloved son, father, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. His life was rooted in family, loyalty, love, and the people he held closest to his heart.

Above all, Lamar was a devoted father. He leaves behind four children who will carry his name, love, and legacy forward; Lamar Smith Jr., Ezra Carey, Anthony Smith, and Marlena Smith.

He also leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Dahnyell Smith; his stepfather, Randall Thompson; his dad, Carlos Gamble Sr., along with Carlos’s significant other, Tammy Tate; and his father, Shannon Salvi. He is also survived by his grandmothers, Pamela Smith and Eileen Gamble; his siblings, Carlos Gamble II, Joshua Gamble, Matthew Gamble, Kazimir Smith, Nyree Fowler, Clint Jordan, Christopher Larson, Cawon Snider, Gerbrina Snider, Depree Gamble, Brandy Gamble, Jaesean Gamble, Lamont Salvi, and Shareef Salvi; as well as his god sister, Ebony Igelesias. Lamar was part of a large and loving family and leaves behind many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will forever hold memories of him close.

Lamar was preceded in death his grandparents, Larry Smith, Lena Henderson, Chris Williams, and Joey Salvi.

Anyone who knew Lamar knew that family meant everything to him. Her lived by F.O.E. – Family Over Everything. He loved his family deeply, valued loyalty, and carried strong bonds with the people he considered his own.

Lamar was also a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. Win or lose, he stood by his team. His love for the Cowboys was part of his personality, and it will always be one of the many things his family and friends remember about him.

Lamar’s passing leaves a space that cannot be filled. Yet his life will continue to speak through his children, through the stories shared by his family, and through the memories carried by everyone who loved him.

Though his time here ended far too soon, Lamar’s name, spirit, love, and legacy will live on. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
