Kirk D. Flanigan

February 15, 1956 — September 3, 2023

Kirk D. Flanigan, age 67, of Millcreek, passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 3, 2023.

He was born in Erie, on February 15, 1956, the son of the late Edward and Audrey (Sands) Flanigan.

Kirk enjoyed boating on Lake Erie and spending time with his family and friends.  He also enjoyed winning, whether it was a new friendship, a ticket at a club, or a jackpot at the casino.  All who knew and loved him were the true winners. He loved his family and friends, they meant the world to him.  To know Kirk is to love him is an understatement.  His heart was huge and non-judgmental, he gave it to everyone around him. He had the kindest soul and was the most caring and gentle man.  He will be sorely missed by all.

Kirk worked for many years at the Erie Times News, Erie Steel Products and most recently at Architectural Doors & Hardware up until his diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease.  His illness did not stop him.  He persevered through the challenges he faced and lived life to the fullest all the way to his final moments.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kim Michael Flanigan and sister Sue Ann Flanigan.

He is survived by his sister-in-law, Carla Flanigan, a nephew, Sean Flanigan (Lina), great nephew Gavin Flanigan, and his cousins, Candy Blaszczyk (Rick), Cindy Kindle (Keith) and Paul Flanigan (Michelle Lewis).  Michelle has been responsible for all the wonderful care Kirk has received over his years of fighting Parkinson’s.  Her love and support for Kirk was unconditional.

Inurnment will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Burton Quinn-Scott Funeral home, 3801 West 26th Street, Erie, PA  16506. A Celebration of Life will be held at The Fairview American Legion, Post 742, 7605 Maple Drive, Fairview, PA  16415 on Sunday, September 10, 2023 from 3:00-6:00pm.
