Kenneth H. Fails, Sr.

It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of loss that we announce the passing of Kenneth H. Fails Sr., who went to be with the Lord on July 31, 2026, at the age of 77.

He was born on October 22, 1948, in Sewickley, PA, to the late Elmer and Evelyn (Taylor) Fails.

Kenneth lived a life filled with service, compassion, and dedication.

He was raised in an Air Force household, and this military background influenced his life and values. An ordained pastor in later life, Kenneth devoted himself to God and his family.

For most of his adult life, Kenneth served as a healer, first as a Navy Corpsman serving with the United States Marine Corps in Vietnam and Operation Desert Storm, and later as Registered Nurse at Hamot Medical Center. He frequently explored new interests, including genealogy, seeking to connect his family history especially their ties to Ireland. Kenneth was a mentor to many young men. He formed organizations such as the Young Marines and the Fort LeBeouf Rifles Junior Drill Team to instill good morals and values in the youth of his community. His commitment extended beyond mere words; he opened his property to host events, showing his generosity and willingness to give back.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by several aunts and uncles.

He leaves behind to cherish him in memory, his loving wife of 56 years, Helen (Donnell) Fails; his son, Kenneth H. Fails II and daughter, Heather C. (George) Fickenworth. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Nazhari Brandon, Endya Brandon, Erin Fails, Roman Fails, Kenneth Fails, III, Aidan Fickenworth and Alex Fickenworth, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc. Downtown, 602 W 10th St., on Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 11 – 1 pm with a graveside service at Erie County Memorial Gardens to follow. The Wesleyville American Legion #571 will render Full Military Honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the PA Soldiers’ & Sailors’ Home, 560 E 3rd St, Erie, PA 16507.
