Kay Kingston Blinzler, age 84, of Erie, peacefully passed away at home on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 surrounded by family, friends, and her beloved dogs.
She was born in Erie, Pa., on May 20, 1941, daughter of the late Margaret and Harold Kingston. Kay earned a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Edinboro State College and a Master's Degree in Guidance and Counseling from Gannon University. She taught for 43 years in the Millcreek Township School District. Kay worked at a variety of schools including Tracy, Lakewood, and Ridgefield. During this time, she also volunteered at St. Joseph's Children's Home and Crisis Intervention.
Kay married her husband and best friend, David, in 1973 and spent 41 wonderful years together. They enjoyed sharing travel experiences with family and friends. Favorite destinations include Alaska, the Caribbean Islands, and South America. Kay and Dave loved animals and adopted many rescue pets throughout their lives. In her later years, Kay adopted senior rescue dogs that needed a loving home and a soft human bed or couch to enjoy at the end of their lives.
An avid reader, Kay enjoyed sharing her love of books with her friends and students. She also enjoyed spending time with cherished friends dating back to kindergarten, high school, college, teaching, and those who became friends in her daily life. In her later years, Kay especially enjoyed her weekly Wizard Card Club.
Besides her husband and parents, Kay was preceded in death by her brothers John Kingston, Douglas Kingston, Kevin Kingston, and sister- in -law Susan Kingston.
Survivors include her sister-in-law, Kathleen Kingston; nephew, John Kingston (Lindsay Daniele); great- nephew, Jack Kingston, all of St. Petersburg, FL., and niece, Katherine Kingston of Pennsauken, NJ.
A special debt of gratitude to Paul Ferrick, Jeffrey Amon, Diane Dovishak, and Tom Covatto, for their steadfast love and help as Kay met the challenges of her later years.
Kay's life will be celebrated with a Funeral Mass at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 130 East 4th St., Erie, Pa. on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at 10:00 am. Visitation at church will be from 9:00 am until 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, and if so desired, contributions may be made in Kay's honor to Covenant House, St. Patrick's Haven, Emmaus Ministries, or the ANNA Shelter.
