Katherine Deufel

Katherine "Toni" Braccini Deufel, age 91, of Erie died Monday January 21, 2013 at St. Mary's Home East.

She was born on July 16, 1921 in Erie to the late Henry and Emma Kylor Braccini.

Katherine graduated from Strong Vincent High School, class of 1939 and regularly attended lunch with the "Lunch Bunch" from Strong Vincent.
 
She grew up attending Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church where she taught sunday school.

Katherine was formerly employed at Winter Piano Company in Downtown Erie prior to her marriage and a few years as a young wife.

She was a former member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where she participated in the altar care and assisted with preschool.

Katherine enjoyed attending performances at the Erie Philharmonic, Erie Playhouse and was an avid baseball fan.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Charles P. Deufel, Sr. (June 3, 1992) and sister, Dorothy Hartel.

Katherine is survived by her daughter, Charlene Deufel of Erie; son, Charles "Chip" Deufel and wife Marti of Erie; sister, Ethelmae Dematteo of Erie; grandchildren, Marena Deufel and Samantha Deufel both of Erie; goddaughter and niece, Sandy Goode and husband Stan of Seffner, Florida; niece, Pattie Dematteo Lindley of California; nephews, Jack Dematteo and wife Colleen of Fairview and Bob Dematteo and wife Mary Beth of Waterville, Ohio; cousin, Alberta Dieter and husband Ralph of New Hampshire; best friend, Hilda Rahn.

Friends may call at the Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle St., Erie on Wednesday 7-9 pm and are invited to attend a funeral service on Thursday at 1:30pm at the funeral home.  Officiating Rev. Richard Schultz.  Interment Erie Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to St. Mary' Home East, 607 East 26th Street, Erie, PA 16504 or Alzheimer Association Greater PA Chapter, 1128 State Street, Erie, PA 16501.
