Karen Ann Spragins Loster, age 82, passed away on March 6, 2026, at her home with her husband by her side holding her hand. He sang 'I Love You, A Bushel and a Peck' to her one last time while her favorite show, Dick Van Dyke, played in the background.
She is the daughter of the late John Harris Spragins and the late Marion Hurley Spragins.
Karen graduated from Gwynedd Mercy High School, Class of 1962. She married her husband of 63 years, Robert K. Loster on July 13, 1963.
She worked for over 15 years as a veterinarian technician at Gwynedd Veterinary Hospital where she earned her certifications and cared for many, many dogs. She went on to work with the Bucks County SPCA in which she took in over 50 elderly dogs to provide them a warm, safe loving place to finish out their lives.
Karen taught evening dog obedience classes out of Hatboro Horsham High School for over 20 years. She was active with the American Kennel Club, both showing her German Shepherds as CC and officiating as a judge for the dog shows.
She slowed down and became a crossing guard for Warminster Police Department, a lunch lady at Log College Middle School and a receptionist for Warminster Police Station. Karen was known for biking all around her neighborhood and being out in her gardens during the spring and summer.
Karen is preceded in death by her son who died at birth; sister, Marion Ann Neubert and her husband, Warren E. Neubert and her 3 German Shepherd loves: Koko 1, Koko2 and Koko3.
She leaves behind to cherish her in memory, her loving husband, Robert K. Loster; daughter, Elizabeth Marie Loster Brown and her husband, Joseph H. Brown Jr.; 7 grandchildren: Jackie Arblaster (Dylan), Amanda Vickery (Anthony), Joe Brown (Abby), Matthew Brown (Lindsay), Samantha Brown (Jason), Casey Brown and Jake Brown and 10 great grandchildren: Gabbie and Osiris Arblaster, Connor, Anna, Aurora and Amelia Vickery, Alanna, Delilah and Lily Brown and Jason (JJ) Kress.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc. West Ridge, 3801 West 26th Street, Erie, Pennsylvania 16506.
Our entire family would like to extend a special thank you to Interim Hospice especially Jordyn, Heather, Jessica, Becky and Michelle who treated our mom like she was their own mother. We never could have gotten through this without them.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggest memorial contributions to the Bucks County SPCA.
