“Strangers were friends she just hadn’t met yet”
Karen Joan Horanic Bartosik, age 87 of Millcreek, passed away Sunday, May 4th at LECOM at Presque Isle. She was born March 7, 1938, daughter of the late Joseph and Ingrid Kleen Horanic.
Karen had a zest for life that was unmistakable. She was effortlessly fabulous, and she took pride in looking her best at all times. Her vibrant spirit, welcoming hands, and signature style made her unforgettable to everyone who knew her.
Karen was a graduate of McDowell High School and attended Penn State University. She worked as a realtor for Howard Hannah and was frequently a Million Dollar Seller. Karen was a 15-gallon blood donor, a member of the Hamot Aide Society, and an avid supporter of the Florence Crittendon Home, WQLN and the Erie Humane Society.
Karen was a long-standing member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and was a loving mother and grandmother. She was devoted to her children, supporting them as a softball coach and baseball team mother, PTA President, Girl Scout Leader and Den Mother. Karen enjoyed staying active by gardening, skiing and attending theatre and play productions. She loved boating on the Sun Bum, spending time at the Erie Yacht Club and in Key West. Karen was a loving dog mom and lifelong animal lover. She adored her pets as if they were her own children, showering them with affection and care throughout her life.
There was nothing more important to Karen than her grandchildren. They were her pride and joy, and her home was filled with their photos—a testament to the love and happiness they brought her. Her love for them was unconditional, and she took immense pride in watching them grow. Being “Grandma” was her most treasured role.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, David and Kevin Horanic and her son in law, Richard Miller.
Karen is survived by her husband, Steve Bartosik; her children, Jeffrey Morgan, Lynne Miller, Philip Morgan, Peter Morgan and his wife, Linda; grandchildren, Ted Miller and his fiancé, Florence Tesha, Dr. Drew Miller and his partner Madeline Satur, Mitchell Miller and his wife Carly Fischer Miller, Madison Miller and her husband, Brad Hensler, Logan Morgan, Dr. Kaeli Freeborough and her husband, Dr. Wei Ning Sun, Laini Morgan, Parker Morgan, Rick and Hannah Morgan, Carissa and Ethan Cain, and Stephanie and Dillan Hudgins. She is further survived by 7 great grandchildren and 3 on the way.
Friends may call at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services West Ridge, 3801 W. 26th St. on Wednesday May 7th from 4pm until the time of service at 6pm.
