Joyce Crosby

Joyce Gwendolyn Crosby, age 78, passed away on Friday, August 25, 2023, after a short illness at Johnston UNC Healthcare in Clayton, North Carolina.

She was born on January 10, 1945, in Laurel, Mississippi, to the late Ellis and Ludie Lyons Sims Sr.

Joyce graduated from East High School and would further her education at OIC where she earned her cosmetology license and teacher certification. She was a mother to everyone. Joyce was an amazing mom with a kind and loving heart who loved all of her children equally. She was always soft-spoken, very forgiving and never quick to anger. Everyone knew her love of country music. Joyce will be missed dearly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her daughter, Terrah Crosby Zablonty and husband, Jerry Crosby.

She leaves behind to cherish her in memory, her loving children, Tabitha Crosby Hayes, Torrey Crosby, Tobren Crosby, Tyler Crosby and Tiffaney Stancil (husband Marvin); sister, Barbara Leaché; brother, Ellis Sims Jr and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is further survived by a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends are invited to call at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc. Downtown, 602 West 10^th Street on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. Entombment to follow in Erie County Memorial Gardens.
