John P. Mysnyk, age 65, passed away on July 21, 2026, at St. Vincent Hospital surrounded by his loving children.
He was born on November 29, 1960, in Erie, Pennsylvania, to the late James E. and Sonja (Burnett) Mysnyk Sr.
John had a deep love for his dogs—Max, Jenna Rose, and his “crazy” Cookie—who brought him constant companionship. He also enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, scratching his instant lottery tickets, and spending time on the deck playing Yahtzee with his family, moments that created many cherished memories.
John is survived by his loving family. He leaves behind his brother, Jeff Mysnyk, and his three children, listed by age: Nichole Mysnyk; Shannon Ogonosky and her spouse, Matthew Ogonosky; and Nicholas Mysnyk and his spouse, Rachel Mysnyk.
John was a proud and devoted grandfather to seven grandchildren, also listed by age: Makayla Grace, Noah Grace, Aubriana Bebko, Lilliana Bebko, Brayden Mysnyk, Theodore Ogonosky, and Layla Mysnyk. They were all a tremendous source of joy and pride in his life.
He is also survived by his significant other of 35 years, Dee Klingensmith, whose friendship and support meant so much to him.
In addition to his parents, Sonja Mysnyk and James E. Mysnyk Sr, he is preceded in death by his brothers, James Mysnyk Jr., Jason Mysnyk, Joey Mysnyk, and Jamie Mysnyk.
Friends are invited to call at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc. Downtown, 602 W 10th St., on Monday, July 27, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until time of service at 6:00 p.m. Burial will be private.
John will be remembered for his love of family, the simple joys he treasured, and the lasting presence he leaves behind in the lives of those who knew him.
