John Mcchesney

April 19, 1949 — October 23, 2012

John W. McChesney, age 63, of Columbus, PA, formerly of Corry, died Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at St. Vincent Health Center. Born April 19, 1949, in Corry, he was a son of the late Warren and Mary Motuz McChesney.

John was a 1967 graduate of Corry Area High School and served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He had been the used car manager at Gary Miller Chrysler and later retired from Mid Town Motors in Warren. John was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Warren, the Moose Club and VFW in Union City, AmVets in Sugar Grove and the Corry American Legion. He was an avid fly fisherman, enjoyed hunting and he especially enjoyed creating flower gardens at home for his wife, Evelyn. John loved to play pool and was a well known pool player and was a Montana State Pool Team finalist. He was musically talented, playing accordion, piano and guitar. He was a great cook and loved creating dishes for family and friends.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his nieces, Stephanie and Sarah Graeca, nephew Seth Graeca, and great nephew Steven Graeca II. He is survived by his wife Evelyn Ploss McChesney; two daughters: Teri Hendricks and her husband Curtis, Heather Schaner and her husband Dan; a son, Todd McChesney; four sisters: Mary Graeca and her husband Ray, Margaret Porter, Gloria McChesney, and Theresa Bowser and her husband Del; a brother, Gary McChesney and his wife Lisa; a sister-in-law, Katherine Reeder and her husband Addison; five grandchildren: Candice and Phillip Thomas, and Andrew, Jacob and Madison Schaner. He was also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East in Girard on Saturday, November 3, 2012, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm followed by a memorial service at 3:00pm in Burton's All Faiths Chapel. Pastor Les Utegg of the Columbus Community Church in Columbus, PA will officiate. Memorial contributions on John's behalf may be made to Disabled American Veterans, Attention: Gift Processing, P.O.
