John E. Baker, age 86, of Erie, PA, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2026, at his residence.
He was born on June 10, 1939, in Erie, PA, a son of the late Dr. Charles and Nancy Smart Baker.
He attended Millcreek Jr. High school and graduated from Strong Vincent High School in 1957. He attended Kenyon College, Gannon University, and US Air Force Electronics School. Attended St. Paul’s Cathedral. John was a salesman and regional administrator for Rust Craft Publishing. As an account executive with Moore Business Forms, John concentrated in the manufacturing and medical field. His final sales position was with Clark-McKibben Safety Products where he sold first aid and safety products. John was the past President of the Erie Chapter of Data Processing Management Association, and secretary for the Fort Erie Muzzle Loaders. He was an active member of ECMOG, and astronomy group as well as a member of the Niagara League.
In retirement, John provided photographic services to area non-profits including the Niagara League, Erie County Historic Society, Regional Chamber and others. His Niagara photos have appeared in Pennsylvania Magazine, Erie Yacht Club Log, Pennsylvania Pursuits, and National Geographic. Several local history books include his images.
Survivors include his sister Gae Kane of Clearfield, PA; a niece Erin Ager of Nicktown, PA; two nephews, Adam Kane (Jenifer) of Mechanicsburg, PA and Pat Kane (Lori) of Clearfield, PA; cousins, Martha McDougle Keys of Queens, NY and Patalyne McDougle Wynn, of Chesterfield, MO.
Private Arrangements are entrusted to Burton Quinn-Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, Inc. 602. W. 10th St., Erie, 16502.
