John A. Ahlquist

John A. Ahlquist, 87, of Erie, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 21st, 2026, at Forestview Senior Living, surrounded by family.

He was born on June 26, 1939, in Warren, PA, the son of the late Theodore and Lyndell (Isackson) Ahlquist.

John was a 1957 graduate of Youngsville High School and a 1984 graduate of Gannon University with an Associate’s Degree in Accounting. He worked in Warren, PA at Deluxe Metal for 5 years, at National Fuel Gas for 12 years, and as an accountant in Erie at Hammermill Paper Company and International Paper for 25 years. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.

John enjoyed antique cars, playing the guitar, collecting records and RV camping.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Ahlquist and a nephew, Michael Forslund.

John is survived by his wife, Jean A. Ahlquist, of Erie, whom he married on November 14, 1970; a daughter, Lynn Clement of Youngsville, PA and a granddaughter, Elyse Dickerson (Zack), of Pittsfield, PA; a sister, Janet Forslund (James) also of Pittsfield, PA; a niece, Susan Forslund (Kelly), of Venetia, PA; a niece, DeAnne Forslund, of Youngsville, PA; two great nephews, Brandon Forslund and Ethan Bailey; and 3 great grandchildren.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, Inc., 3801 W. 26th Street, Erie. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
