Joanne Rose Amiel

October 8, 1947 — September 12, 2024

Erie

Today we bury not just one of G-d’s greatest gifts to us all, but a queen, the queen of our hearts. She lit up a room & your heart with her smile and brought the light into any gloomy day. Her quick wit and occasional (daily) sarcasm could turn almost any situation into one appropriate for roaring laughter.

Though in life she herself lost so much & so many loved ones, she strived to share all the good she had with anyone who would accept it. Her strength through her struggles was a torch of hope for those who loved her and taught anywho could see what it means to weather the storm.

In life her good deeds & healing nature touched all who surrounded her & now in death her goodness will live on in the deeds we shall all do for others in her name.

May G-d hold you in his arms and grant us the gift of but one hug from you should we rise to meet you again in “Gan Eden”.

About Joanne Rose Amiel:

Young and Vibrant in spirit no matter the age Joanne was born in Manhattan, NY in 1947 to Hilda & Leon Amiel.

She grew up within the city, burroughs & Long Island before eventually going off to college & graduating at NYU. She then spent time in living in Maryland before returning to her true love “The City.”

She was able to enjoy life & traveling abroad was a favorite pastime of hers as was dancing & music. Participating in & hosting the Jewish holidays on a rotating schedule with her sister and mother was much to everyone's delight.

A true NYC socialite, she had an apartment on the East River “down the block from Henry Kissinger” as she would always point out & knew all the best spots to eat & places to interact with the cream of the crop.

Deciding to start a family was the next big adventure for her however and she was able to raise 2 children of her own, Holly & Seth, as well as her nephew Leon in his teen years. She loved watching her family grow; Leon married a woman Joanne adored & they had 2 beautiful & “very smart” children as she would point out. My mom loved seeing them when they would come over, they brought the light to her she brought to others.

Her daughter married, followed in her footsteps in the medical fields & as Joanne had, adopted a son Joseph. He was the apple of her eye and spent time with her every evening watching their shows. “Commercial!” you’d hear from the other room as they fast forwarded through the ads and got back to laughing at the TV.

Paige, her daughter-in-law, became not only a daughter, but best friend & caretaker over the years, keeping her involved in all events and ongoings’ about the house & world around her as she got on in age.

Her son Seth grew to enjoy technology & the gaming industry and is now engaged and awaiting the birth of Joannes’ second grandson, whom she was already proud of and so eager to meet.

Along with her children & grandchildren, touching the community with her healing skills as a physician's assistant was one of her proudest achievements. “Why call the doctor? Just ask Joanne!” was the most commonly used phrase at any local gathering.

Friend & Mother to all, except those who dare hurt any she loved, Joanne has watched & will continue to watch over us all. She honored G-d with her giving presence here on earth, may she find the peace and rest she so deserves in the afterlife to come.

Private burial is entrusted to Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc., Downtown, 602 W. 10th St., Erie. Send condolences at www.BurtonQuinnScott.com.
