Janice C. Spurlin, born November 3, 1940 in Rockport, MA passed away on November 30, 2022. She was the daughter of Eleanor and Charles Edward (Eddo) Parady, and step-daughter of Charles O’Rielly. She was married to Roy Spurlin for 28 years.
Janice has seven surviving children: Laurie Newsome (James), Penelope Zimmerman (Kevin Spitman), Daniel Spurlin (Dawn), Jessica Young (Brian), Cuong Spurlin, Charles Spurlin (Beth), and Joel Spurlin. She is also survived by her brother Ralph Parady (Anne), sister Courtney Rapp (William), foster brother Joel Reiter (Charlotte), 17 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, many cousins and her beloved dogs Lexi and Sabrina. She was proceeded in death by her step brother Charles O’Rielly (Jill).
Jan was first and foremost a mother to her own children and to many others. While married to Roy, she and he were foster parents to several girls over the years. She did volunteer work for Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Chestnut Hill Elementary School. She worked at Presbyterian Lodge in the activity department for six years. She also worked for Gannondale for seventeen years and was devoted to the girls in her care.
At the time of her death, Janice was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She was on church council, the social ministries committee, and served as a communion assist. Prior to this, she was a member of Perkins Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon and an elder. Her Christian faith was central to her life.
Jan enjoyed walking her dogs, working in her yard, and traveling with her children. She was an avid reader and a cruciverbalist.

At Janice’s request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Arrangements are entrusted to Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Service Inc. Westridge, 3801 W. 26th Street.
