Janice June Borland

Janice June Borland, age 89, of Girard, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday April 19, 2026.

She was born in Girard, PA on October 6, 1936, the beloved daughter of the late Kenneth and Ruth Bender Payne.

Janice was a proud graduate of Albion High School, Class of 1954. On July 30, 1955, she married her loving husband, Kenneth Borland. Janice dedicated many years to Girard Plastics and later pursued her passion for beauty by attending Orra-Jean Beauty Academy, eventually opening her own business, “Janice Borland Beauty Shop”. A lifelong member of Girard Alliance Church, Janice was deeply committed to her faith, serving as a leader, teacher, member of the mission committee, Alliance Women, and Prime Timer leader. During winter, she attended Punta Gorda Alliance Church in Florida. Janice was creative and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cake decorating, basket weaving, painting and refinishing furniture. She also volunteered at Edinboro Camp and Peniel Camp in the kitchen, bookstore, and children’s ministry.

In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth W. Borland, Sr. and her brother, Kenneth (John) Payne.

She is survived by her children, Kenneth Borland (Linda) and Dannetta Getz (Michael); grandchildren, Danielle Fred (Rick), Ken Getz, and Kayla Mikesell (Brett); great grandchildren, Jett, Collins and Kendall Fred; and her brother Robert (Marion) Payne, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to attend Janice’s memorial service at Girard Alliance Church, 229 Rice Avenue, Girard, on Saturday April 25th from 2:00pm until the time of service at 4:00pm. Burial will be private at Girard Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street E, Girard.
