Jane Macewen

Jane Ann MacEwen, 90, of Millcreek, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2023. Jane was born in Atlantic City, NJ and was raised in Kane, PA where she met her future husband, Evan. They were married for 42 years and raised 6 children together in Girard PA. Jane worked as a secretary at Girard High School for nearly two decades and volunteered in various church and civic organizations. She was an ordained elder of Presbyterian Church USA. She moved to Millcreek where she was a member of Wayside Presbyterian Church.

She was predeceased by her husband Evan MacEwen, her parents Tavy and Margret Summersgill and her granddaughter Emily MacEwen. Jane leaves behind a brother Dick Summersgill and his wife Suzy of ­­­Cave Creek AZ; her children Matt MacEwen and his wife Cheryl of Glastonbury, CT, Beth Deck and her husband Charlie of Conneaut, OH, Susan Carney and her husband Bill of Dansville NY, Barbara Mogren and her husband Malcolm of Grove City, OH, David MacEwen and his wife Patty of Dover, FL, and Scott MacEwen and his wife Tara of Charlotte, NC. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to celebrate Jane’s life will be held on January 14, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Wayside Presbyterian Church, 1208 Asbury Road, Erie, Pa 16505. The family will receive friends at noon prior to the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jane’s memory to one of the following: Wayside Presbyterian Church, Sisters of St. Joseph, Sarah Reed or any other deserving institution.
