James “Jimmy” Anthony Williams Sr., age 69, of Erie, Pennsylvania, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2026 at UPMC Hamot Hospital.

He was born in Erie on May 21, 1956, the son of the late Inez (Bruce) and Willie Williams.

James spent most of his life in Erie. He graduated from Strong Vincent High School and served in the United States Army. He served as a Nato Police Officer and was a member of the American Legion Post #700 on Buffalo Road in Erie.

James retired from UPMC Hamot Hospital’s dietary department, where he worked more than 35 years, also serving as one of the cooks.

He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, jokester and fun-loving. James always had a pleasant smile on his face. He was very personable.

In addition to his parents and grandparents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Willie Moses Williams.

James is survived by his son, James “J.J.” Anthony Williams Jr.; five grandchildren; his siblings: Debra Sansom, Vincent Williams (Sherri), Roxanne Stovall (Tommie Darrell), Michael Jordan (Mary), Anthony Jordan, Deondre Hillard, Darius Hillard, Shikira Jones and a special friend, Deborah Hayes. He is further survived by many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends are invited to call at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc. Downtown, 602 West 10th Street, on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. Burial in Erie Cemetery with Erie Crawford Veterans Burial Detail presenting Full Military Honors.
