James McIver

James McIver, age 69, of Erie, passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at Saint Vincent Hospital. He was born June 12, 1953 in Carthage, North Carolina to the late Starr and Dorothy McIver. After high school, James served his country in the United States Army.

He was a very talented carpenter, working with the Erie School District for 36 years. James loved golf, pro wrestling, bowling, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and Michigan and Iowa football. He was an excellent cook, known for his sweet potato and pecan pies; he loved feeding the birds, gardening, and playing solitaire.

James is survived by his children, Gabriel McIver, Sheharah McIver (Kevin), by his partner Clarice Womack, and his granddaughter Amira McIver. He is further survived by his siblings, Larry McIver, Patricia Williams, Shirley McIver, and Joan McIver.

In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his brothers, Ronald and Anthony McIver.

Friends are invited to call on the family Wednesday, June 14, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 Noon at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Service Inc. Downtown, 602 West 10^th Street, Erie.
