James “JG” Graves, 73, of Waterford, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, January 14th, 2026, at his residence.

He was born on February 2nd, 1952, in Erie, a son to the late Russell and Adelle (Wolf) Graves.

JG graduated from Tech Memorial High School. He then went on to attend Penn State University and earned an Associates degree in Computer Science. He worked at Hardinger as a warehouse supervisor for many years until his retirement. He was affectionately known as JG, the DJ at the Shaggy Dog, while Vinny Younger sang. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and past president of ABATE, of PA. You could always find him out in the pole barn working on anything he could find, and he could fix just about anything, especially loved rebuilding his 1949 Pan Head Motorcycle, of which he kept until this day. He enjoyed driving stock cars and the demolition derbies at Eriez Speedway.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Bill Graves and his wife, Barb.

JG is survived by his son, Keith Graves (Sabrina), of Erie; two daughters, Sarah Graves (Vic), of Erie, and Jami Lynn Aylward, of NH; a sister, Kathy Graves, of Arizona; four grandchildren, Trenton, Isabella, Arianna, and Xavier; his former wife and good friend, Carolyn Stone; nephews, Scott Graves (April) and Chris Graves (Emily). He is further survived by several great nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Private Arrangements have been entrusted to Burton Quinn-Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, West Ridge, 3801 W. 26th St., Erie. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
