James Edward Gloystein

James Edward Gloystein, age 74, and a life-long resident of Erie, passed on to Heaven on May 25, 2026 from his home.

Jim loved walking to his favorite restaurants and stores and enjoyed taking the bus to the public library regularly. He was known to jokingly say, when he saw a city bus pass by, “There’s my chariot…”. He had a passion for movies and music history and could tell you endless facts about each … in particular, Carole King, anything regarding Anne Hathaway and more recently, Marvel comics that have been made into series or movies. Jim was a researcher at heart. One of his most exciting adventures was flying on an airplane to Disneyworld and witnessing in-person, the statue of Walt Disney and the light show on the castle. He was so moved seeing these, that he was brought to tears.

Jim came from a family that loved and cared well for each other. For many of his more recent adult years, he lived with and helped care for his Aunt Betty Weber who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ruth (Weber) Gloystein.

He is survived by many cousins, and a large extended family. Jim will be deeply missed but until we meet again, we are certain he is enjoying the beauty, complete love and wonders of his eternal home in the presence of our Savior and LORD; Jesus Christ.

Private services will be held with burial in Erie cemetery.
