James E. Birkmire, 72, of McKean, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Millcreek Community Hospital. He was born in Erie on May 19, 1953, to the late Thomas J. and Virginia M. Fuher Birkmire.
Over the years, James enjoyed a fulfilling career as a truck driver, working with his brothers at Birkmire Trucking and Crystal Lakes Trucking, as well as independently. He was also the proud owner of Birkmire Custom Truck and Coach Restoration. In addition to his professional endeavors, James had a passion for boating, camping, and riding motorcycles and snowmobiles. He was known for his culinary skills, especially his famous french fries. A dedicated member of the McKean Ushers Club, James built lasting relationships in his community.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Kenneth Birkmire, Sr., and his sister Kathleen Birkmire. James is survived by his children: James Birkmire (Suzelle), Kevin Birkmire (Lindsey), and Shawn Birkmire; two grandchildren, Cameron and Reagan Birkmire; 6 brothers, Tom (Crystal), Tim, Chris (Laura), David, Jeff, and Mike Birkmire; sister in law Kathleen Birkmire; and his longtime friend, part-time companion, and full- time boss, Kim Case.
Friends may call at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, Inc., West Ridge, located at 3801 W. 26th Street, on Thursday, May 29th, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. They are also invited to a service on Friday, May 30th, at 10:00 a.m., followed by burial at St. Francis Cemetery.
