Helen Ann Pelensky

Helen Ann Pelensky, age 96, of Erie, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 29th, 2025 at the PA Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Home of Erie, PA.

She was born in Erie on January 4, 1929, a daughter of the late John and Theresa Filipowski Bukowski.

Helen graduated from Academy High School and worked for the Boston Store, Colonial Bakery, and the Cesare Battisti Club. She loved being Bushia to her many grandchildren, but her grandchildren knew NEVER to touch her hair!

In addition to her parents, Helen was predeceased by her husband John A. Pelensky; granddaughter, Meghan Pelensky; her brothers; Frank, John Jr., Danny and Raymond, and sisters Theresa and Irene.

She is survived by her children; Deb Pelensky (Brian Morris), Sharon Brandt (Kevin), Larry Pelensky (Jan); grandchildren, Zachary (Kim) Brandt, David (Kelly) Brandt, Eric Brandt, Chad (Margi) Pelensky, Danielle (Jake) Gamble, and Ellie Pelensky; great grandchildren, Christopher Pelensky, Violet Brandt, Andrew Brandt, Ethan Brandt, Cooper Pelensky, Cullen Pelensky, and Aven Gamble; special nieces, Lorriane Wilkinson and Judy Juchno; as well as a special friend, Dorothy Gnacinski.

Helen’s family is truly thankful to the Soldiers and Sailors entire 2B staff – nurses, nurses aides, PT, OT, Dining room staff, Maintenance, Security, Beauty Salon staff, activities department, and ALL other staff at PA Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Home for all of their devoted, compassionate care and attention Mom (Grandma) received.

Friends may call at St. Jude’s the Apostle Church, 2801 W. 6th St., Erie on Wednesday, May 7th from 10AM to 11 AM and are invited to attend a Funeral Mass there immediately following. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
