Helen Clark

Helen Garis Clark, age 92, of Erie, passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at St. Mary’s Asbury Ridge.

She was born on June, 5, 1926, in Manorville, PA, a daughter of the late Gerhardt Schupp and Nellie Anthony Schupp.

She was a graduate of Punxsutawney High School and worked as an executive secretary for the Armstrong County American Red Cross for 5 years.  Helen was a member of the First Alliance Church, was a member of the choir for several years at various churches and was a Sunday school teacher for many years.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her first husband, William Garis; her second husband, Putnam Clark; by a brother, and two sisters.

Helen is survived by a son, Gary W. Garis and wife Elizabeth, of Fairview; a sister, Mary Jane Cooper of Ford City, PA; a granddaughter, Gretchen Kovach and husband Jack of Erie; a step-granddaughter Robin Herman and husband Scott of Girard; and two great grandsons, Ethan and Gavin Herman.

Friends may call at the Burton’s West Lake Funeral Home at 3801 West 26^th Street (at Powell Avenue) on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be at Erie Cemetery.
