Gregory J. Chase

December 18, 1955 — September 1, 2025

Denver, CO

Gregory J. Chase, 69 of Denver, CO passed away Monday September 1, 2025 at the UC Health University of Colorado Hospital after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Erie, PA on December 18, 1955 to the late Gail L. and the late Shirley Lassman Chase.

Greg was a kind and gentle soul who went to St. George parochial school, attended Cathedral Prep and graduated from McDowell High School in 1973. A free spirit, Greg traveled the western United States before settling down in Colorado in the late 70s. For an occupation, Greg described himself as a “jack of all trades”, allowing him the flexibility to do what he enjoyed. Enjoy he did, attending many rock concerts in person and securing large collections of LP vinyl records and CDs. Before moving out west, Greg probably held the record for the most concerts attended at the old Erie County Fieldhouse. He particularly liked Neil Young and the group Pink Floyd. He was also originally a fan of the New York Mets but became a passionate supporter of the Denver Broncos and Nuggets and the Colorado Rockies. Additionally, Greg liked to read and was a lover of animals, who enjoyed his pets over the years.

Survivors include brothers, Glynn Chase (Monica) of State College, PA, Gordon Chase (Kathryn) of Scranton, PA, Gayle Chase (Karen) of Lansing, MI, George Chase (Kimberly) of Erie, PA, and sister, Sandra Chase Staab (David) of Erie, PA. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
