Grace A. Horton, age 92, of Erie, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2026, while receiving respite care at Sarah Reed Senior Living, with her daughter at her bedside. She was loved and cared for by her grandson Adam Valle and his wife Alicia for the last three and a half years so she could remain in her home while dementia stole her golden years and memories. She was born in Erie on August 5, 1934, a daughter of the late Joseph S. Kisiel and Anna J. Maciejewski.

Grace graduated from East High School and got a job at General Telephone and then went on to General Electric, from which she retired. Grace was skilled at knitting, crocheting, and making homemade sponge candy. She and her longtime companion were featured in an article about their candy making in the Erie Times-News on September 7, 2015. She would often take candy care packages to doctors’ offices, friends, and bank tellers.

She was a collector of anything blue and there was not a person who did not know her favorite color. She enjoyed music, theatre, and could often be found convincing someone to polka with her. She sang in the Saint Jude Choir for over 40 years and loved watching musicals. Another favorite pastime was playing pinochle with friends or family, and she was willing to teach anyone who was interested in learning the game.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Alvin Horton, her longtime companion, Leonard Kolakowski, and her brothers, Ernest Kisiel and Leonard Kisiel.

She is survived by her daughter, Melissa A. Prindle (Pete) of Millcreek; five grandchildren, Kira Schroder (Mark), Adam Valle (Alicia), Dylan George (fiancée Harlem), Taylor Brown (Ryley), and Parker Prindle; six great-grandchildren, Gavin, Dietrich, Henry, Bennett, Nolan, and Samaria; several nieces and nephews, and her brother, Victor M. Kisiel.
