Gerald Edward Wegelin

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gerald Edward Wegelin, age 74, on December 11, 2025, at his residence after a short illness.

He was born on November 11, 1951, in Erie, Pennsylvania, to the late Sylvester and Pauline (Kulp) Wegelin.

After graduation from Strong Vincent High School, Gerald served our country in the United States Army. When he returned to Erie, he worked for General Electric and Erie Bolt Company. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. His love for sports extended to NASCAR as well. Gerald also enjoyed boating and fishing.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, John “Butch” Wegelin.

Gerald leaves behind to cherish him in memory, his son, Thomas B. Wegelin (Karen); grandsons, Bradley Wegelin (Danielle) and Thomas J. Wegelin; great grandchildren, Tom, Rhiley, Bryce and Isabella and his long-time companion, Candice “Candy” Karpik. He is further survived by his siblings, Robert “Bobby” Wegelin (Mary) and Charlene “Sissy” Campbell (Bruce). Friends are invited to call at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc. Downtown, 602 West 10th Street, on Thursday, December 18, 2025, from 2:00 P.M. until time of service at 5:00 P.M. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
