George H. Heitzenrater

George H. Heitzenrater, age 84, of Erie, passed away on April 7, 2023 at Allegheny General Hospital.

He was born on April 2, 1939 in Pittsburgh, PA son of the late Henry and Mildred Collins Heitzenrater. 

George was a 1957 graduate of West Allegheny High School and was then employed as a material handler. 

He was a member of St. Jude’s Church. 

George enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles and loved working outside in the yard. He had a very competitive nature and loved winning at cards. He also enjoyed setting up holiday train displays.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ann McCutcheon.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Luella Smith Heitzenrater, two daughters, Sherri Meyner (Blaine) of Erie, PA and Linda DeAngelo (Jeff) of Orlando, FL.  Two Granddaughters Christina (Dave) Graham of Erie and Emily (Devon) Kriebel of Orlando, FL; one grandson, Jeffrey Eric DeAngelo of Orlando, FL; three great-grandchildren, Dylan and Dominic Graham and Vayda Kriebel and a brother, Paul (Carole) Heitzenrater of Imperial, PA. He is further survived by several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, West Ridge, 3801 W. 26^th Street on Wednesday, from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at 6:00 p.m.
