Gayle Thompson

Gayle Thompson age 66, of Erie, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.

She was born in Erie on February 19, 1960, a daughter of the late William Milton and Ethel Elizabeth Howe.

Gayle attended the Erie School of Business and received her degree. She then attended Edinboro College for further higher education.

Gayle lived in Erie all of her life and married her husband, Paul David Thompson, in 1984. She worked at Saint Vincent Health Center in the Pathology department until the early 2000’s, and in the Claims department at Erie Insurance until her retirement in 2022.

She enjoyed taking riding lessons and riding her horse for most of her adult life. Gayle would frequent Asbury Woods as much as possible and occasionally would travel the United States to visit family. She also loved fishing at the lagoons in Presque Isle, taking walks, riding 4-wheelers, reading books and going to the beach.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul David Thompson and a brother, Robert Howe.

She is survived by her son, Paul David Thompson, Jr; and two sisters, Judy Howe and Laura Swartz.

Friends may call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, Inc., West Ridge 3801 W. 26th Street on Thursday, October 29th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and are invited to attend a service there on Friday, October 30th at 10:00 a.m.
