Gary C. Weibler, age 86, of Erie, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2026.
Gary was born in Erie on March 19, 1940, son of the late Norman and Marjorie (Schaal) Weibler.
Gary graduated from Edinboro University, where he earned Bachelor’s and Master’s equivalent degrees, and then launched a career teaching at Grover Cleveland Elementary School and then Strong Vincent High School.
After a few years, he set out on a new career path as a financial advisor (when he started out, the term was stockbroker) at Walston & Co. He served as the Senior Vice President at Wells Fargo Advisors & Affiliates, where he was also elected to the Directors Council, for 43 years before retiring.
Gary was a longtime member of the Kahkwa Club and Erie Yacht Club, and a life member of the Erie Maennerchor Club.
In the past, Gary served as president and board member of the Erie Maennerchor Club, and president and board member of the Sales & Marketing Executives of Erie. He also served on the board of directors of the Kahkwa Club and of Villa Maria Academy. In addition, Gary taught classes for the American Institute of Banking and Erie Business Center.
Gary was a member of St. Patrick Parish, and enjoyed spending winters in Florida, and playing games with friends including golfing, duckpin bowling, bocce, and dice. He also loved celebrating holidays with his grandchildren, spending time with family, and traveling.
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his stepfather, William Nemenz, and brother-in-law, Dr. James H. Burghart.
Gary is survived by his wife, Mary B. Weibler, with whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage last July. He is further survived by two daughters, Vanessa Weibler and her husband Derek A. Falkenstein of Fairmont, W.Va.; and Alissa W. Hodas and her husband Brian D. Hodas of Pittsburgh, Pa.,; four grandchildren, Eliza V. Paris, Oliver H. Paris, Samuel W. Hodas, and Elliott W. Hodas, all of Pittsburgh; sister-in-law Judith Burghart of Cleveland, Oh.; and niece Jill Lemke and nephew Mark Burghart.
Friends may call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, Inc., West Ridge 3801 W. 26th Street, Erie on Saturday, May 9th from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m.
