Frank Paul Rivas age 101, of Erie, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2024, at LECOM at Presque Isle.
He was born in Providence, RI on May 13, 1923, son of the late Elias and Jennie Ferreiri Rivas.
He worked in the maintenance department at Marx Toys for 26 years, Firch Baking Company and retired from Copes Vulcan in 1979 after five years of service.
He served in the United States Army during WWII. He was a member of the VFW Billy Simpson Post # 470 (Lifetime member), Siebenbuerger Club, and was a volunteer at Beverly Health Care Western Reserve Nursing Home. He was also a long-time member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Frank collected stamps for many years and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan. He cherished being a loving husband, father and especially a grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Diana Marchini; sister, Mary Rivas Cook; brother, Vincent J. Rivas; mother-in-law, Edna Chrzanowski; son-in-law, Philip Wright; sister-in-law, Charlotte Foster and brothers-in-law, Kenneth Herman, Marshall Chrzanowski, John Chrzanowski and George Cook.
He is survived by his wife, Betty J. Chrzanowski Rivas whom he married on July 5, 1969; a son, Paul M. Rivas of Erie; a daughter, Sandra Wright of Erie; a sister-in-law, Rose Marie Herman of Erie; grandchildren, Brooke Elizabeth Rivas of Spring Hill, TN and Stephanie Marie Goetz (Thomas) of Erie; great grandchildren, Emily Robie, and Beau Robie and Austin Goetz all of Erie. He is further survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, West Ridge, 3801 W. 26th Street on Tuesday, October 1 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and are invited to attend a service there on Wednesday, at 11:00 a.m.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
