Eric W. Hess

Eric W. Hess, age 58, formerly of Erie, PA, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, in Flagler Beach, FL. He was born on September 15, 1965, the son of Marjorie Bloss Hess and Edmund W. Hess. 

He attended McDowell High School and then went on to PennWest California (formerly known as Cal U) majored in speech communication and theatre. Eric won the Cal U University Player of the Year award in 1988 and was a proud member of the Theta Xi fraternity. 

Eric had a special love for the Blues and Theatre. With that, he enjoyed being a harmonica player, harp player, and actor. Most will agree that Eric had the biggest heart and the loudest laugh. Even though Eric lived in Florida, he still loved his Pittsburgh teams and cheered them on at every game.

Survivors include his son, Daniel A. Hess, and Daughter-in-law, Deanna Newman Hess. Four sisters: Laura Kling of Pittsburgh, PA, Christine Crotty and her husband Michael of Satellite Beach, FL., Cheryl Majkut and her husband Gerry of Honolulu, HI, and Lisa Hess of Flagler Beach, FL. Along with many Nieces and Nephews and Great-nieces and Great - Nephews. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Eric to the care of the family. 

A Celebration of Life will be held in Erie, PA, at a later date.
