Elva Brueckner Mussett age 97 passed away on Wednesday September 3, 2025 at LECOM at Village Square.
She was born on May 26, 1928 in Fairview.
Elva graduated from East High School with retail certification. She worked in sales at the Boston Store and in the cafeteria at Gannon University. She was a current member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and a former member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, where she served as church librarian and was on the worship, music and 100th anniversary committees. She was a board member of PTA, Erie County Hunger Crop Walk and Washington Park Neighborhood Watch; also a member of the Erie West Senior Center and City Council of PTA’s. Elva also volunteered at numerous organizations including: Lutheran Brotherhood, Erie School District at Roosevelt and Irving Schools, GECAC Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Crime Victim Center, Habitat For Humanity and St. Matthew’s School. She was a blood donor and enjoyed reading, crocheting, sewing and other crafts.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Clarence H. Mussett; a brother, John Schening and sister-in-law, Virginia Fehlman.
Elva is survived by her children, Ruth E. Mussett of Erie and her companion Russ Wiest, Rebecca J. Vlahos of Frisco, TX, Richard E. Mussett (Alaine) of St. Petersburg, FL and Clarence “Corky” Mussett, Jr. (Kathy) of Fairview; and sisters, Joanne Busch (Ray) of Erie and Marilyn Morris of Corry. She is further survived by grandchildren, Jeff Halloran (Amber) of McKinney, TX, Matthew Mussett (Kelly) of St. Petersburg, FL, Mark Mussett (Stephanie) of St. Petersburg, FL, Andrew Mussett (Irene) of Fairvew, Sarah Arnette (Rob) of Erie, Elisabeth DiCarlo of Frisco, TX, Mary Colleen Mussett of Fairview and Erin Mussett of Erie; sister-in-law, Nancy Schening of Erie; 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on the family at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc., West Ridge, 3801 W. 26th St., Erie on Friday September 12, 2025 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm with funeral services the following day at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 3108 Sterrettania Rd., Erie, PA 16506 at 10:00 am officiated by Rev. Erik Young.
Burial in Erie Cemetery.
