Elizabeth Geer

Elizabeth McElroy Geer age 103, of Fairview Township, passed away peacefully.

She was born in Hamot Hospital, Erie, PA on July 28, 1920, a daughter of the late Robert C. and Helen E. Vail McElroy.

Elizabeth graduated from Strong Vincent High School, Class of 1938, and graduated from Knox School in Cooper, NY in 1940.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, the D.A.R., and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross for many years.

Elizabeth was a lifetime member of the G.O.A. and N.R.A. and the Junior League of Erie. She was a lifelong resident of Fairview Township.

She loved horses, taught horseback riding lessons, and showed many horses during her life. Elizabeth loved the outdoors and was one of the most cantankerous ladies of Fairview Township.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Lois McElroy in 2010, sons-in-law Charles Robert Neal and Lundy L. Neely, and cousin Ann McElroy.

Survivors include her brother, Col. Robert L. McElroy, U.S.M.C., Ret. and his wife Mary; two daughters: Beth Neely of Dayton, Ohio and Vail Neal of Nashville; her son John McElroy “Jay” Geer and his wife Cheryl “Cheri” of Southport, NC, scores of grandchildren and great grandchildren; three nieces, and many friends.

Friends may call at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services West Ridge, 3801 West 26th Street on October 21, 2023 from 1 PM until the time of service at 2:00 PM. Burial will be private in Erie Cemetery.
