Elizabeth Deimel

September 5, 1956 — October 23, 2022

Elizabeth “Betsy” H. Deimel age 66, of Erie, passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2022 at LECOM at Presque Isle.

She was born in Erie on September 5, 1956 a daughter of James R. Hurley and Helen “Robin” Riblet Kuebler Eastman.

Betsy grew up in Ridgewood, NJ graduating from Ridgewood High School and Sweet Briar College in VA.  Following her graduation from college she lived in Austin, TX and Washington, DC before she decided to make Erie her home.

Betsy worked for many organizations during her life, most proudly the Republican National Committee, United Way of Erie County, and former Congressman Phil English. Most recently she had found joy in pet sitting where she got to spend her time watching dogs and cats.

Throughout her lifetime she was a member of several organizations and clubs; most recently being involved in Delta Sigma and PEO. She was a member of Wayside Presbyterian Church.

Betsy enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed attending her Wednesday Night Dinner group at Wayside. Betsy loved sharing photos of the beautiful Erie sunsets with all of her friends and “followers” on Facebook.

During Betsy’s lifetime she survived three brain hemorrhages. To her each day was a gift to be celebrated - she was always “fabulous”.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Gerald C. Deimel.

She is survived by her daughter Erica Deimel (Antoni) of Erie, Pa. Brothers James Hurley (Lois) of Florian Park, NJ; Christian Hurley of Columbia, MD; Scott Hurley (Ruth) of Charleston, SC, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
