Edward "Carl" Olesnanik

Edward “Carl” Olesnanik, age 89, of Girard, passed away on Sunday February 8, 2026, at his residence.

He was born in Erie, PA on April 23, 1936, the son of the late Joseph and Julia Majerick Olesnanik.

Edward attended Girard High School and went on to serve in the National Guard. He worked in shipping at Marx Toys for many years and then was truck driver at Paragon Packaging until his retirement. He was a former member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He loved woodworking and building furniture, cutting firewood, keeping his house at 80 degrees. He loved to be outside.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Melva Olesnanik; his brothers, Steve, John, Joseph, Andy and William Olesnanik; his sisters, Dorothy Meeder, Josephine Travis and Margaret Pekelnicky; and by a grandson, Jake Nesbitt.

He is survived by his daughters, Patricia (Joe) Kitza of Springboro, Linda (Tim) Blount and Diane (Dale) Rogers, all of Girard; five grandchildren, Nic, Tim, Carly, Daniel and Emily and a sister, Patty Ball.

Friends may call at Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St. East, Girard on Thursday February 12, 2026, from 12:00pm until the time of service at 2:00pm. Burial to follow in Saint John Cemetery.
